Tracey Miller

Tracy headed up our research department and was responsible for locating the next of kin for the MIA crew members.  She spent countless hours  going through old documents, researching a host of websites, and spent many, many hours on her phone. Her efforts resulted in the UHE group coining the phrase “We did not find the gold, but we found the treasure!” Tracy also served as a surface support during most of the initial search and salvage effort. She later participated in the dive crew during most of the underwater forensic investigation work.

Tracy was born on January 1, 1960 in Branford, Ontario CN.  She spent a lot of her youth sailing with her parents on Lake Erie in Port Dover, Ontario. She was SCUBA certified at that time.  She backpacked all through Europe from 1979 through 1980 with her two best friends, stopping to work in different countries along the way.  In 1983 she moved to Fort Myers Beach, FL. She then assisted her parents in sailing the family sailboat from CN to FL through the Intercoastal Waterway.

At the age of 40 Tracy went back to school and received her LPN license while she was raising her two sons, Adam and Alex. When the B26 opportunity came up, she was put in charge of research and the task of finding any living relatives of the crew members. Of all her accomplishments and adventures, Tracy cites the successful location of the living relatives of three of the crewmembers as a highlight.  “It was an honor for me to be able to give these people closure to the passing of their loved ones. “
